Applications: Mining
Harness Clean Energy from Mining Operations
Mining operations around the world use significant volumes of water for processes such as drilling, dust suppression, ore processing, and cooling.
Many of these systems include locations with excess pressure or flow, thus providing opportunities for energy recovery.
Turn Hydraulic Pressure into Clean Power
In mines and mineral processing plants, it is common for water to flow by gravity through pipelines equipped with control valves to reduce the pressure or limit the flow. Rather than wasting this energy, Easy Hydro’s small-scale hydropower technology uses Pumps as Turbines (PATs) to convert it into usable electricity.
Whether feeding into the mine’s internal grid or powering local equipment like Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), this renewable energy source helps reduce operational costs and carbon emissions.

Where
Our water turbines are suitable for existing pipes where water pressure needs to be reduced or where water flows by gravity into a reservoir or tank.
- A: in parallel to a valve
- B: on a pipe discharging by gravity
Typical Installations
Any location with water flowing in a pipe and an excess of flow and/or pressure.
Water supply to deep underground mines
Outlet of Wastewater treatment
Outlet of clarifiers / thickeners
Reverse osmosis / high pressure filtration
Replacing orifice plates/disc
Cooling systems and evaporative towers

Learn More About Easy Hydro’s Energy Recovery Technology
Easy Hydro turbines are based on a proven concept called Pumps as Turbines (PAT) — a smart, low-cost solution for capturing energy from pressurised water systems. These compact and modular turbines are particularly well-suited for mining operations, where high-pressure or gravity-fed water flows are common.
Whether it’s underground water supply, wastewater discharge, or filtration systems, our technology enables mining companies to generate clean electricity on-site with minimal maintenance and strong returns on investment.
